Getting to know Barbara Keady: A Creative Luminary

Barbara Keady, lovingly known as Barb, was not just an artist; she was a beacon of inspiration and creativity. Born in 1959 in Los Alamos, New Mexico, Barb's artistic journey was deeply intertwined with the stunning landscapes of her home state. From an early age, her hands danced across canvases, creating vivid portrayals of the spectacular vistas of Northern New Mexico that had captured her heart.

A Teacher and an Artist:

Barb's artistic prowess found a natural companion in her love for teaching. A devoted educator, she spent her free time drawing, writing, and photographing New Mexico's beautiful landscapes. After raising two children of her own, Barb joyfully embraced the role of "Grandma Barb" to her grandchildren and the kids she taught over the years.

Curly Crow: A Dream Unveiled:

Despite battling brain cancer, Barb's spirit remained unbroken, and in 2017, she fulfilled a lifelong dream. She penned the first Curly Crow book, Curly Crow Goes to the River. This charming tale was a testament to her resilience, creativity, and the enduring magic that lies within the heart of a dreamer. The Curly Crow series became a conduit for her love of storytelling, art, and the enchanting landscapes that had fueled her imagination since childhood.

The Curly Crow Legacy: Nicholas Aragon's Tribute

Barb's son, Nicholas Aragon, carries forward the torch of her creative legacy. Nicholas not only honored his mother's dream by publishing Curly Crow: Goes to the River, he has also published several other titles in the Curly Crow children's series building a brand that encompasses both art and literature. The Curly Crow series, which Nicholas expanded and brought to life, serves as a living tribute to Barb's imagination and the enduring magic she shared with the world.
