Barbara was also a teacher and had a dream of writing books for children. Despite battling brain cancer, she persevered and wrote two children's books before passing away in 2017. Nicholas was determined to carry on his mother's legacy and honor her by publishing her books. He learned how to self-publish, formatted and published the two books on Amazon, and Curly Crow was born.
But Nicholas didn't stop there. He fell in love with the process of publishing books and decided to build upon the Curly Crow character his mother had created. He gave the character a new look and started writing his own stories about her. Nicholas hired an illustrator and began publishing his own Curly Crow children's books. He has now published several books with matching coloring books and made Curly Crow a business, with a website where he sells his books and uses his blog to support parents and help kids develop a love for reading.
Nicholas works full-time in higher education, and even though he loves his job, his true passion is Curly Crow. He spends his free time doing author visits at schools and libraries, speaking to children about his journey as an author and encouraging them to try new things and keep reading. Nicholas and his family miss Barbara very much, but they are reminded of her caring and fun spirit every time they look at Curly Crow.
